On co-creating art across the world.
This week I launched a collab photography zine with Japanese photographer Naruto Ohashi in Australia. I’m an American photographer in Switzerland. I met him two years ago in Tokyo looking at cameras (yep, Ricoh GR — true story) in Yodobashi Akiba. This is our first project together and we are planning more.
From the start, we shared a similar approach and aesthetic in street photography — and have continued to evolve to share a love of lo-fi, high-contrast, type-informed graphic design.
Presenting: 乱 DIS/ORDER
A PHOTOZINE COLLAB by JILL CORRAL x NARUTO OHASHI
Photography: Naruto + Jill
Design + Production: Jill
Title + Text: Naruto

How we worked together across the world.
As we are in wildly different time zones, seasons, and hemispheres — while both working on a million other things — we kept the process streamlined.
Choose a simple project: 8-page mini zine.
Naruto selects and sends 4 of his photos to Jill.
Jill visually responds with 4 of her photos and creates initial layout.
Naruto responds with title ideas and text.
Jill refines design.
Live joint video call review and work session (yesterday morning!) to finalize title and design.
Final share and approval over Instagram DMs.
乱 DIS/ORDER launches last night!

Thanks as ever for joining me and taking a look.
Special thanks to Manuela Thames and Susanne Helmert [“Walking together, apart”] for inspiring art collab projects like this one. //
