Graphical Notation

Today I went to the most incredible class at Bloedel Reserve, a sweeping and stunning nature preserve, given by the current artist-in-residence Simone Baron. Wow. Mind blown wide open. I’m historically/officially a visual cat by trade and otherwise, but am of late realizing I have a musical self that has mostly manifested as musicality or lyricism in dance (ballet, flamenco, disco, salsa, club). For all these years I’ve thought I’m “not musical” because I can’t read music (Western notation) or play any traditional instruments…(!) Just like I thought forever I wasn’t a designer because I “can’t draw” which now is so laughable. Beyond the subject matter of today’s class, was the energy of the instructor and the people there. Synaesthetic, multipassionate, multicreative heaven. And in such beautiful surroundings. Deeply inspired and super grateful for today.
