2-Minute Movie: "Dream of You" (2025)

For your Sunday reflection, I humbly offer you…

Dream of You” (2025) — a meditative tour through how last year felt to me. I shot the footage in 2024 entirely on a handheld Ricoh GRIII, and created this today. Music is my own composition.

Music: “Sequin” by J1L (Jill Corral) (2023)

Have a a beautiful week.

I’ll bet it takes a while to bring together all the components, plus the soundtrack, but very worthwhile. Thanks for sharing.

I love seeing Ricoh videos – the functionality gets such mixed reviews but I love constraints. I can’t wait to own one. This is really beautiful. x

Thank you so much Erica. The camera is indeed not known for its video prowess — which I almost took as a dare to use it. It turns out that for my dominant aesthetic (and maybe yours), it’s really quite divine. I’m excited for you to get one. :)

Excellent job! The three vertical panels really work. I am drawn to the snowy bits! I am roasting today.

Love this Jill! The video triptych looks amazing along with your dreamy meditative music.

A while back I started experimenting with triptych slide shows (which I call “Photo Resonance”) but I didn’t consider how powerful video can be in a similar format.

I have also been enjoying your Journal No. 1, which I I’ve been flipping through over the last week or so for inspiration.

I love this! What a wonderful piece of art, you have inspired me to try video – something that I’ve only played with a little – slow mo and time lapse – over the years. The abstract and non-direct approach to your shots is inspiring! What do you use to edit the video together?

Thank you kindly, Craig! I use DaVinci Resolve (free version) but CapCut and similar are easier and can produce same result. Total of 5 tracks — 3 video, 1 titles, 1 audio.

I identify with what you’re saying — and I found it very freeing to go with this approach. For years I’ve been taking short video clips and doing nothing with them, so last year I “dared” myself to make/finish a short film in one day just using 10-second clips. Here’s that one — which I made on my iPad: https://youtu.be/4xSnIL0uLUc?si=iZxs-7vSPE5GyuXG
